Life Lessons
I always thought my life was all planned out…elementary school, middle school, high school, college, grad school, etc. Even after a move across the world during my teen years, I still held on to this belief everything will ultimately go as planned - not just for me, but also for my friends and family. During this last semester of college, I’ve realized that these plans are never set in stone, and that you can never know for sure where life will take you. The only way to avoid a mental breakdown is to be prepared for the uncertainty that comes with time, and to be okay about this (at least as much as humanly possible).
It’s also important to be open to trying various new things, whether they are activities with friends or career paths. You will never know what you’re meant to be doing until you are doing it - there’s no way to know beforehand if you will love it or despise it. Therefore, it is only by keeping an open mind and exploring different options that we come to figure out who we are.
Another key point - never underestimate the value of having fun and enjoying what you are doing every day. The point of life is not to reach some place 5 years down the road….there should be a bigger purpose, a more signifcant reason, for what you are doing. I’ve met many people who base their lives around things that, while important, won’t even matter in the long run. They sadly forget to live in the process. Find what you are passionate about and go do it. It’s better to be happy doing what you love than stuck in place that makes you miserable.
So to sum it up, know that the only thing that is certain is uncertainty, be prepared to go on new adventures, and remember to enjoy life as you meander down its topsy-turvy roads.

The modern airplane creates a new geographical dimension. A navigable ocean of air blankets the whole surface of the globe. There are no distant places any longer: the world is small and the world is one. ~Wendell Willkie
